We’re in San Antonio. Part The End.

Yesterday morning we enjoyed the last few hours of this incredible trip. Did some swimming at our fancy hotel, looked around at the incredible view from our fancy hotel, ate some of the best food of the trip at @tlahcomexicankitchen. Then we got on separate planes and flew home. I have always been so grateful to travel and see the world with the coolest mom a girl could ever have. But as you might imagine, I’m a million times more grateful than I ever thought possible, after everything we’ve all be through. @dancing_mur is the best. I’m also really happy that so many of you made fun/funny comments and seemed so excited for us to be back at it. It made it that much more meaningful.

We’re in San Antonio. Part 3.

The rain would not let up so we headed for Mission San Jose which turned out to be one of our favorite (maybe meaningful is a better word?) explorations of the trip. So difficult to process the colonization happening there, but so important to see in person. Once we got back to our fancy hotel we made use of the robes and slippers and rested up for our trip to @gruenehall to see the @hottexasswingband. We danced and sang along and had a great time at the legendary dance hall. (I like that some people call it the Station Inn of Texas. Although I guess it’s really the other way around since it opened in 1878.) Then we had a late dinner 710 feet in the air at the @toweroftheamericas and made sure to keep track of the @sfgiants game the entire time. What a day.

I’ll be adding some more @dancing_mur videos throughout the weekend over in my stories so keep an eye out for those. She did some fine dancing on this trip.

We’re in San Antonio. Part 2.

Who doesn’t love a good Texas thunderstorm? This time of year it’s either 92 degrees or pouring down rain. Ah well, it didn’t stop us from seeing the Riverwalk and The Alamo. But we were quickly forced to buy some very fancy (just kidding) umbrellas and duck into a fabulous French bistro over in the Pearl. So much fun watching the rain pour down while we ate our bisque and cordon bleu and Mur drank a porter. Good times, we can always find ‘em.

We’re in San Antonio. Part 1/

Well, we’ve walked so much this week, @dancing_mur was excited to see some transportation alternatives on the streets of San Antonio. We also had an incredible meal at @bohanans and checked into the most gorgeous hotel we’ve seen in a while. San Antonio is started off strong.

We’re in Houston. Part 3.

Yesterday was very special for me. We hung out at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston which recently installed several very cool light exhibits and has some other awesome light work by our friend Bob Gardner as well as two beautiful Rothkos I’ve never seen before. The whole museum is spectacular, truly. I don’t know how curation works, exactly, but the MFAH people are doing a better job than most.

Then I got to spend some time in the @rothko_chapel (They don’t allow photos inside so you’re only seeing the outside things.) and it was as moving and overwhelming as I expected, maybe more.

Then we got some of the best bbq I’ve ever had. Texas, I love you with your brisket and your sausages.

We’re in Houston. Part 2.

Another baseball stadium checked off the list. Super fun times at @minute_maid_park. Met some cool Astros fans and it was dollar hot dog night and we saw a winning game and we definitely enjoyed the hell out of the Nolan Ryan Beef home run train. (Side note: If you’re gonna have a burnt out letter in your sign make it the one that turns you into Minute MAD Park.)

We’re in Houston. Part 1.

We walked three miles to visit the Holocaust Museum, wandered through the Japanese Gardens in Hermann Park, and fulfilled my lifelong dream of cruising a pedal boat around a lake. I thought it was called a paddle boat. But apparently it’s a pedal boat. It was super fun either way.

We’re in New Orleans. Part 3.

My friend @ashbyfrank was here a couple of weeks ago and he mentioned visiting the Southern Food and Beverage Museum and how he thought I would like it. I checked it out and found out they have cooking classes which is very cool so @dancing_mur and I took the Creole cooking class and had an absolute blast. Here’s us making smothered okra, jambalaya, and bananas foster with @dee_lightfuldesserts who was a great and helpful teacher.
