We went to the NASCAR race for Father’s Day. Thank goodness I love hanging out with these three amazing guys (@adamspickoftheday @randy_chowning and @gearldstrickland) since the traffic was so bad it took 3.5 hours to get there (it’s 45 miles away) and almost 4 hours to get home. We sure did get to spend a lot of quality time together. It was a great day. 💜 (at Nashville Superspeedway)

Had a great time at lunch catching up with two phenomenal musicians whom I’m grateful to call friends. I realized after we hung out today that we’re actually celebrating 15 years of knowing one another. I met @rossholmesfiddle in 2006 when he stayed at my house while recording an album with a band he used to be in, you probably know them. I’ve loved watching him turn into an aggressively excellent sideman (with bands you know even more than that other one) and a creative force of his own. And I met @markevitts in 2006 at Wintergrass through a mutual friend and I’ve watched him turn into a radical composer and arranger of things you’ve actually heard on screens big and small. But we all three started out as dorky fiddle players and, well, we sort of still are.

Yesterday was full of fun milestones. I enjoyed a bountiful spread of food and had some wonderful laughs with some fully vaccinated and pretty friends, first time sans masks. (The cranberry goat cheese had the covid smell but that was the only one that really bothered me and I just didn’t eat it and it was fine.) Then I tried getting an iced latte from Starbucks - really pushing the parosmia envelope - and it was like 75% not gross. Yay! This morning the coffee smell was bad again which is a bummer but I know things are improving and shifting and that’s progress. I love my friends and food and I’m doing whatever it takes to enjoy them all.
