Turns out, if you take the Radio City Music Hall tour, you get to see the super secret apartment that the Rockefellers built as a gift for Roxy Rothafel back in 1932. It’s exactly as it was back then and there’s even a screening room where you can watch movies from the Amelia Earhart chair, which is what we’re doing right here in this photo. Howdy folks - you knew it was coming… #dancingwithmur is back! We enjoyed ourselves beyond measure at the Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks show tonight. We were both already huge fans but had no idea they performed every Monday and Tuesday night in midtown. Thanks to @dekedickerson for posting about it last week and thanks to @theonecalledbill for telling me about Deke Dickerson in the first place. Just behind us is The Peace Fountain at Cathedral of St. John the Divine. It has giraffes, crabs, a sun and moon, decapitated Satan, and some other stuff. And then last night we went to see The Front Page which was truly one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen on Broadway, not kidding. (Shoutout to Dann Florek- I cried when he came on stage.) After the show we went to Sardi’s for soup and this giant group of kids came in and we were a little annoyed because giant group of kids but then Mur got up and went to one of their tables and exchanged some pleasantries, you know, instead of being annoyed. Which, by the way, is actually a really great way to handle things in life. After she came back to our table, one of the young men (pictured center) just came over and sat down and began chatting with us. Then his friend joined and we ended up having a good 20 minute conversation about drama, music, travel (Victor was born in Belgium, Lorenzo in Puerto Rico) and the future. Their school had brought them to New York to see some plays and musicals and they had wonderful insights on the shows. They also had wonderful insights on living in the States and their own plans for the future. You don’t even know how much better we feel right now about the state of the world. And then just above this unassuming Express store are four (only three pictured because selfies) of the most stunning sculptures I’ve ever seen, depicting four of the most famous theater and film actresses in history.
