Since the very first time I heard a @theweepies song, these two have been my musical heroes. Some of you know that Rocks and Water, the most played song from my album with the wonderful @billevansbanjo is one of theirs and if you didn’t, now you do. It sure as hell wasn’t an original - I could only dream of writing a song that amazing. (Not for nothing, when Bill contacted them about allowing us to record it, they were so kind and generous to let us do it.) Seeing them live for the first time, I brought their duo name to life, crying all over my olives and frites. As a working musician and teacher I sometimes lose track of just finding and listening to great songs - caught up in the “job” of it all. But whenever that happens, I remember to put on The Weepies and just bask in everything I love about great singing and songwriting. #theweepies #cantgobacknow #nashvillenights (at City Winery Nashville)
You Can be a FiddleStar
I post things about fiddling. And how we can all be better at it.
Day 5 #whole30 dinner - the roasted red pepper sauce has been approved by @adamspickoftheday and declared fit to go atop just about anything. Also, I don’t mean to be racist but we like the white sweet potatoes better than the orange ones. #donthate #fiddlerswhocook (at Fiddlestar)
Here’s my handsome boy #sirwinstoncup drying off after his beloved bath time. That last part is sarcastic. #bostonterrier #bostonterriersofinstagram #bostonterriercult #flatnosedogsociety #dogdaysofsummer (at Fiddlestar)
Day 4 #whole30 dinner - my new favorite thing is Magic Unicorn salt. (Also coconut aminos on all vegetables.) Thank you @beautifulbrinysea for making delicious things to sprinkle on salmon. #marconaalmondsforthewin #yesimadethemayo (at Fiddlestar)
Day 3 dinner - all is well. I haven’t killed anyone yet. The headaches are subsiding. I haven’t eaten a single gummy worm. @whole30 #whole30 #fiddlerswhocook #iovercookedtheshrimp (at Fiddlestar)
Many of you know our dear camper/student Leo Hickman. Today he “got back on the horse” as he put it, after a surgery that left him unable to play the fiddle for months and he competed at the John Hartford Festival old time fiddle contest. Here he is collecting his second place loot. Yep, after months of rehab and hard work and sometimes wondering if he’d ever play again at all, he got freakin’ second place in a fiddle contest. Leo is always looking for the next challenge and asking what’s next. He encourages other people to follow their dreams and he leads by example. Be like Leo. #fiddle #myhero #theleohickman #johnhartford (at Official Bean Blossom and Bill Monroe Music Park)
Foam is still a thing. Don’t hate. Especially when it’s shrimp bisque foam and Sean Brock is responsible. Also, there are beets and beautiful strawberries under those leaves and all of this was ridiculously good. #anniversarydinner #husknashville #seanbrock #shrimpandgrits #nashville #foodspotting (at Husk Nashville)
Today we went to the vet. #busterkeaton had a few ticks and certainly that’s to be expected because he’s an outside cat but otherwise he was very healthy and might I say, extremely agreeable. He also enjoyed exploring the entire exam room and generally looking handsome. We’re going to work on our tick prevention this summer though, just to be safe. #blackandwhitecat #manabouttown (at Greenbrier-Springfield Animal Hospital, Inc.)
#latergram of this delicious bacon on a stick with bits of funnel cake on the side. Because #merica #bacononastick #dallas #foodspotting (at Meddlesome Moth)
And then we got pie. Mur got blueberry and I got key lime again. I’m going to have to go to Dallas again to try a different kind of pie but I don’t know if I’d be able to bring myself to do it. That is the finest key lime pie in all the land. For reals. If you know of a finer one, you come here with it. #pie #motherdaughterroadtrip #shannonhuntgraduates #Dallas #bishopartsdistrict (at Pie Emporium)

I am excited to embark on a new chapter of my working life - I recently gave my notice to the Pam Tillis organization and will no longer be touring with her or Lorrie Morgan (on their awesome Grits and Glamour Tour). I must admit, I'm sad to be leaving. It's been an incredible four years and I have learned so much. Thanks to Pam, her amazing husband/manager Matt Spicher, and my bandmates, especially the lovely and talented Mary Sue Englund, with whom I spent more time over the last few years than I did with my husband. And I wouldn't trade a minute of it...
