You Can be a FiddleStar

I post things about fiddling. And how we can all be better at it.

Registration opens November 1 at 9am Central. Previous campers (who get to register early) have already snagged a handful of spots so it’s looking to sell out almost immediately. Clawhammer in the Spring. Beautiful. @clawhammerist #clawhammer #banjo #nashville (at Fiddlestar)

Someone (and by someone I mean @johnmailander ) showed @chrisluq1 the Bebot app and this mini jam got one level weirder. Not for nothin, Tristan really did master the 5 string resonator mandolin fairly quickly though. #ofcoursehedid #bebot #latenightcampjams #nashvilleflatpickcamp #gibsonguitars #tophergaylemandolins @mandolin2842 (at Fiddlestar)

When @adamspickoftheday brought up the idea of a #nashvilleflatpickcamp here at FiddleStar central I thought he might be crazy. But he seemed pretty sure that it was a good plan. Well, here we are, in the middle of our 9th Flatpick Camp and I truly don’t know what we would do without these incredible people in our lives. Thanks to @kennyandamandas for always being here and sharing all the music and laughs with our campers. We are so grateful. Well done, Adam. You were right. #nashville #flatpicking #martinguitar @daddarioandco @thompsonguitars @cartervintageguitars @adamschlenker (at Fiddlestar)

And so it begins part deux… In this photo #thejackelmore and Jim Downs work through leftover liquor from last month’s #nashvillemandolincamp and discover Texas whiskey (which they didn’t know was a thing) mixed with bourbon ain’t half bad. They say, thanks mandolin ladies! Your booze is appreciated! #nashvilleflatpickcamp #nashville #jackandjim #veterancampers @theonecalledbill (at Fiddlestar)

My name is Megan Lynch Chowning and I’m a vocal jazz nerd. This concert was the culmination of everything that mattered to me from 7th grade through high school. They sang all the hits. I cried. I remembered sitting in the hallway transcribing all the harmony parts to Spread Love and Birdland. Thank you @take6official and @themanhattantransfer for helping me relive all the beautiful musical moments of some of my most formative years. #thesummit #manhattantransfer #take6 #nashville #vocaljazznerd (at City Winery Nashville)

Taco and milkshake Tuesday with #thedarrellbrothers is everything I love about life. And let’s be clear, that chorizo taco there on the far right, that thing will change your life. #nashville #todayisagoodday #tacotuesday #westnashvillestyle #bobbiesdairydip #jamesbrown (at Taqueria Azteca)

I am excited to embark on a new chapter of my working life - I recently gave my notice to the Pam Tillis organization and will no longer be touring with her or Lorrie Morgan (on their awesome Grits and Glamour Tour). I must admit, I'm sad to be leaving. It's been an incredible four years and I have learned so much. Thanks to Pam, her amazing husband/manager Matt Spicher, and my bandmates, especially the lovely and talented Mary Sue Englund, with whom I spent more time over the last few years than I did with my husband. And I wouldn't trade a minute of it...
